Based in Istanbul, Turkish Azerbaijani designer, Rufat Ismayil, debuted an ultra-femme fatale collection at Spring Studios for NYFW. Sultry pantsuits, black velvet evening gowns and voluminous ruched skirts flaunted down the runway adorned with crystals, feathers, and intricate beading. Inspired by the Monarch Butterfly’s intricate wings, Ismayi’s AFFFAIR F/W19 collection focuses on using lace, organza, and chiffon to emulate the large sun-kissed orange, white and black wings of the “king butterfly.”
