At the Novo, May 25, local Poppyseeds where blessed with an opening performance by LA based sparkle princess and space-pop artist, Polartropica. Instead of her usual elaborate performance consisting of a live band, keyboard, background dancers and sometimes even a blow up clam shell with bubbles, Ihui Wu a.k.a Polartropica gave concert goers a stripped down version of her normal performance and a curiosity for more.

Now Poppy is something I was not unexpected. Performing in-front of black and white circular illusion and dressed in a Simone Rocha Tulle Midi Dress, the Tim Burton-esque punk psycho musician brought the energy in the room to the roof and I only wish that her fans were down to start a mosh pit. She’s great. Her performance made me want to do a deeper dive into her current discography. Hopefully in the future she will think about doing a live album.
