“Double Imprint”

Contemporary Artist, Tsong Pu, has shaped  the Western worlds post-war minimalism movement with matrix structures and geometric boarders. He and was seen as symbolism for new and old ideas coming together. 

This is where Taiwan based designer, Justin Yi Yang Chou, has pulled from for inspiration. By using digital prints and three-dimensional jacquards, Chou has focused on modernizing the classic wardrobe. 

Accessorizing the collection in collaboration with Fovea Jewellery, Chou is able to use motorcycle locks and metal chains, seen in Taiwanese daily life, to accentuate the brightly colored gingham patterns and fabric latticed sweaters. 

There is a calculated calm seen thought the JUST IN XX collection of prints and textures . Not once are you looking at assembles thinking, “Who would wear that,” or “who could pull that off.” It is classic sportswear with a twist. It is wearable art that would look great on anyone.

One of my favorite things elements of the collection is Chou’s revisualization of Converse’s that he has used in previous runway shows. Not only does this show his effort to become more sustainable but it shows off his talents as a master craftsmen. Not many people can take a shoe completely apart and create something that everyone wants and would but. I want 4 pair with matching outfits.
